Chapter 2: Spice called respect
Thursday, September 20, 2012 @ 7:06 AM
Respect. What is respect? There are many types of definitions that one has on the word respect, but in general, according to wikipedia, respect means to give a positive feeling of esteem or deference for a person or other entity (such as a nation or a religion), and also specific actions and conduct representative of that esteem. According to me, respect is when a person returns back the attitude shown by the other party. I'm not talking about the respect that you have towards someone mighty or full of powers. I'm talking about respect, as a whole, where rude and disobediance are part and parcel of respecting.

Why is it important to have respect? It is important if you want to survive. By respecting others, you display gratitude and appreciation towards someone or other entity. When you respect them, it means that no matter how bad the situation you won't go to the extent of insulting them because respect is being given. It's mainly important because if respect is given, there will be harmony and peace everywhere.

"If you respect me, you'll listen to my opinion, weigh it honestly and then make your own decision. Again, you may voice your disagreement, but it won't become a full-blown arguement because we can respect each other's differing opinions."

Respect yourself and others will respect you.

The first basic rule in respect is to first respect yourself. You don't have to go around trying so hard to fit in and carrying them high up if you don't even instill a little bit of respect for yourself. What is self-respect? It is where you respect your ownself and what you think/feel. It may involve modesty too. Like the way you wear your attire, if you wear revealing, sexy outfits, and it causes unwanted stares and comments, it means you're disrespecting yourself. You don't have self-respect if you project yourself as a badass type of person because people already have that first impression that you've lack of respect.
self respect is not a matter of age, size, or wealth. Breathe in deep, sing out loud and sweet,"I am unique, I am magnificent."

Treat your parents with care, for you'll only know the value only when there's an empty chair.

The second rule of respect is to respect your parents. No matter how much you hate them, no matter how much they nag, no matter how much they don't have time for you, no matter how much suckish you feel your life is with them, no matter whether you like chocolates or not, the second most important is this. You must always always always respect your parents. Even if they were to nag, scold, make you stressed etc, just respect them. You should and you must because unless parents disown you, or abused you, you have no rights to even say bad stuffs about your parents. You are supposed to respect what has been given to you. They raised you up, they had a hard time making you, your mother had to undergo all those processes of nausea, of kickings in the tummy, of cravings etc, your mother has to suffer the pain to let you out of her body. You should be thankful that every single day, you still get to see your parents. Some people don't even have parents anymore. Some people were born and not able to see their parents anymore. So if yknow that your parents are still healthy and around, make sure you never ever disrespect them. Make sure you appreciate their presence. Love them and never ever scold them. No matter what, no children should ever say vulgarities to your own parents because it's super duper rude and yknow how usually these vulgarities are insulting the father's or mother's body parts or themselves as a whole, well yes. That's super rude. I don't see why some people find it an embarassment to go out with their parents etc. I just don't understand why some people just don't appreciate what they already have. Instead, they want more and more and more. This is greed. You have parents, so? Be proud and go out with them. If you're that one kind of a child who always hate on your parents but still take their money and live under the same roof, i suggest you go insert your head in a crocodile's mouth right now. Your parents if possible, for sure, don't ever want to have you as their son/daughter. If you're that rude, and they've known, they would totally have disown you from the start. Respect your parents because for all you know, god's will, you will have problems in life one day involving this similar situation occuring.

When people do not respect us, we are sharply offended; but deep down in his private heart, no man ever respect themselves.

In my point of view, I don't see the point in "age" when it comes to respect. If you don't like someone, you still have to respect them. The same rules apply, you still have to respect them because that's like compulsary, permanent and by default. I don't care whether you're 20 years-old and still don't know how to display respect especially towards others. You don't respect me, I don't respect you.
